Used by the routine at MATERIALISING.
Takes +$06, complements and masks it, and uses the result as the half-period. Its only caller is the colour step shared by DYING and MATERIALISING, where +$06 is the number of rows of the figure showing -- so the note moves as the player sinks or rises.
