If the robot's legs, record 0, are in use, use doorways (bit 3 of +7) and are within the doorway's limits (IS_NEAR_TO), sets bit 0 of their flags: while it is set the collision code lets him past the line of the wall, and his move (HANDLE_EXIT_SCREEN) sees whether he has walked out of the room, and clears it. Knight Lore's chk_plyr_spec_near_arch, which looks at records 0 to 3.
