Types $70 to $77 run from big to small as something vanishes (init_death_sparkles starts a death this way); $78 to $7F run from small to big as the player appears, at the start of a life or in a new room; the rest are the sparkles over the cauldron, of the end-of-game animation, of a collapsing block and of a charm that is lost.
